Remember the train engine that sat in front of Pak-A-Sak? A 1519 Centennial Celebration is happening on Saturday, October 18 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

This free, family-friendly birthday bash, is celebrating the 100th birthday of the Frisco 1519 4-8-2 steam locomotive. The event will include the reading of a proclamation by Mayor David Mason, tours of the 1519's cab including a special commemorative "boarding pass".

Smoke Wagon will be on-site with food for purchase.

Christmas concert returns to the Chisholm Trail Expo Center, Saturday December 13th, 2025. Join everyone for a family fun night of Christmas cheer, featuring Michael Martin Murphey, with special guest Kyle Dillingham and Peter Markes.

Splash Pads Last Day is Oct. 19

The City of Enid Parks and Recreation Department has announced the closure of the Hoover and Champion splash pads for the 2025 season.

The final day for residents to enjoy the splash pads will be Sunday, October 19, with both locations operating from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. until then. The splash pads will officially close for the season on Monday, October 20.

• OCTOBER 17-18
Stop by and browse tons of great books by popular authors. Hospice Circle of Love Fall Book Sale today between 9am and 7pm or Saturday between 9am and 5pm at 314 S. 3rd.

• OCTOBER 18
There will be a Benefit Race this Saturday, October 18, to save Enid Speedway. Insurance is requiring a catch fence in front of the grandstands. There currently is no funding to build a fence. If racing stops they will close the facility.

This benefit race needs to raise enough money to buy the needed materials and construct the catch fence. All proceeds from this event, grandstand admission, pit passes, etc., will go toward this cause. NO drivers purses will be paid and speedway workers will also be donating their time to this cause.

Gates open at 4 p.m. Saturday, grandstands at 5. Racing gets underway at 7:30. Adult admission is $20, seniors, military and kids 12-15 $15, under 12 is FREE. Pit passes are $35.

If you cannot be at the Speedway on Saturday but wish to contribute to the benefit you can Venmo Kip Hughes @Kip-Hughes-2.
