The Weekend Buzz For Enid
Find out what's happening in and around Enid this weekend?
Hey BuzzHeads!
Can school really only be a month away?!?
It doesn’t even feel like we’ve really hit our summer stride and they are already talking about getting back to school! Enid Public Schools will begin August 13!
The photos I have been adding to the top of the newsletter are all sunrises taken in Enid. from the walking trail. I hope to put about 52 of them into a coffee table book one of these days.
Thanks so much for subscribing and being part of the Enid Buzz community. I truly appreciate you! It’s been a great 20 years!
Stay cool out there—and stay in the know with EnidBuzz.com.

WHAT'S HOT THIS WEEK

Garfield County Residents Will Vote On A Sales Tax Increase
Garfield County residents will be asked to approve a one-tenth of a percent sales tax increase to be spent on maintenance, operations and marketing of the Chisholm Trail Expo Center and other fairground facilities.
The Garfield County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution calling for the sales tax election for October 14, 2025. The sales tax would last for 10 years, from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2035.
The Expo Center is currently being funded by the county’s share of a 3% hotel/motel tax. According to Expo officials that 3% barely makes payroll and pays the bills.
If approved, the new sales tax would add about $75,000 a month in revenue. The local sales tax in Enid would increase to 9.2%.
LOCAL NEWS

St. Mary’s Awarded For Improving Rural Stroke Care
People who live in rural communities live an average of three years fewer than urban counterparts and have a 40% higher likelihood of developing heart disease and face a 30% increased risk for stroke mortality — a gap that has grown over the past two decades., St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center is committed to changing that.
For efforts to optimize stroke care and eliminate rural health care outcome disparities, St. Mary’s has received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Rural Recognition Gold award.
The American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health for all, recognizes the importance of health care services provided to people living in rural areas by rural hospitals that play a vital role in initiation of timely evidence-based care. For that reason, all rural hospitals participating in Get With The Guidelines - Stroke are eligible to receive award recognition based on a unique methodology focused on early acute stroke performance metrics.
