It’s that time of year again! School is right around the corner, routines are about to change, and families are getting ready for a brand-new school year. Whether you’re buying supplies, planning schedules, squeezing in one last summer activity or just trying to get everyone back on track, this is one of those busy transition weekends around town.

It’s also a big weekend to shop with Oklahoma’s sales tax free weekend, so expect stores to be a little busier as families stock up on clothes, shoes and back-to-school essentials. It’s a good time to support local businesses, grab what you need and maybe save a little along the way.

Sales Tax Holiday Weekend

The Oklahoma Sales Tax Holiday is August 7-9 for 2026. The holiday begins at 12:01 am on Friday, August 7 and ends at twelve midnight on Sunday, August 9. Shop local before heading out of town! Brown’s Shoe Fit and Lora Leigh’s Boutique are having some great sales. Details below.

Sales of any article of clothing or footwear designed to be worn on or about the human body and the sales price of the article is less than one hundred dollars ($100) are exempt. This does not apply to the sale of any accessories, special clothing or footwear primarily designed for athletic activity or protective use that is not normally worn except when used for athletic activity or protective use, or to the rental of clothing or footwear.

Enid Main Street First Friday

August First Friday is Friday, August 7th from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM in Downtown Enid! Join everyone for First Friday: Back to School before the school year begins! August’s First Friday is all about celebrating the season and making the most of summer’s final days. Shopping, music, food and fun!

They will also be celebrating all of our local non-profits! You will be able to meet, check out, and hear from local area non-profits and how they impact Enid.

City Utility Office Relocating

As part of the City of Enid's ongoing commitment to enhancing community services, the Utility Services office is temporarily relocating while renovations are completed to improve customer experience.

Beginning Friday, August 7, Utility Services has moved from Room 114 to Room 122 inside the City Administration Building. The temporary office is located just next door to the current location, allowing customers to continue receiving services with minimal disruption.

Utility customers may continue to establish new utility service, make payment arrangements, inquire about their accounts, and receive customer assistance at the temporary office during regular business hours.

The renovation is expected to take approximately 120 days and is part of the City's continued investment in improving facilities and delivering quality service to the community.

Walk or Run to Benefit EHS Cross Country

Brown’s Shoe Fit Enid is teaming up with the Enid High School Cross Country Team for a fun, family-friendly morning at Sunset Plaza!

Saturday, August 8, 2026
Brown’s Shoe Fit — 610 S. Cleveland, Enid
FREE registration begins at 7:30 a.m.
1.5-Mile Walk starts at 8:00 a.m.
5K Run starts at 8:30 a.m.

Walk, run or bring the stroller—everyone is welcome! Registration is completely FREE, and donations to support the Enid High Cross Country Team are greatly appreciated.

Brooks representative will be here handing out FREE swag!

Every participant will also be entered into drawings for:
